San Miguel Ranch & Lodge Turkey Hunts
Texas is home to an estimated 1 million Rio Grande turkey. Our ranchland is traversed with a creek and river system, including Muela, Gato and Olmos creeks. Many of our hunters hunt the Frio, Nueces and Leona river systems. Both creek and river systems provide large live oak trees as prime roosting trees.
Our cultivated fields, grassy meadows and bottomland drainages provide food, forage and good calling areas for our birds. Because the birds are concentrated on these drainages, success has been high. With over 30,000 acres of ranchland to hunt, our birds are not pressured and respond well to calling. Turkey season runs from late March to early May. The lodging is Old World elegant and you’ll find our professional hunters to be as passionate about turkey hunting as you are.
You can expect to hear gobblers on morning hunts and usually several responses on the evening hunts. You can typically work one or two of these birds in the morning and one or two birds in the evening, usually resulting in two opportunities per day. We often have hunters take multiple birds at one sitting. Average beards measure over nine inches and spurs in excess of one inch is the norm.
Whether you’re a novice getting your first taste of turkey hunting or an experienced long-beard charmer pursuing the grand slam, we offer the total turkey hunting experience. That’s why our longtime clients continue to count on San Miguel for their turkey hunting. Visit our trophy gallery and see for yourself.
Our turkey hunts are great for the corporate client looking to build a unique hunting adventure that their employees and customers will never forget. Visit our corporate hunting programs to explore more options.
